Our Story
Founded in 2022, School of the Arts Tasmania (SOTA) was created to be a place where everyone matters, and everyone is enough. From its humble beginnings, SOTA has grown into a thriving creative hub in Launceston, offering a welcoming and inclusive space for performers and artists of all ages to learn, grow, and express themselves. Because at SOTA, there’s no age limit on creativity.
Our state-of-the-art supersized studio is designed to inspire, featuring a Broadway theatre with a stage, a dance studio for 80+ performers, a fully equipped Picasso art studio, a West End acting suite, and an Opera House singing and recording space. We even have an on-site café, providing a relaxed space for students, families, and visitors to connect and unwind.
With dedicated programs in musical theatre, dance, singing, drama, and art, we provide opportunities for students to build confidence, develop new skills, and take the stage, whether in a leading role or as part of an ensemble.
Since launching, we’ve staged original full-length shows, musicals, and showcases, giving artists real-world performance experience. No matter where a student starts, our goal is to nurture their passion in a positive, encouraging, and fun environment.
At SOTA, creativity takes centre stage and everyone has a place to shine, no matter their age or experience.
